Fatwood, technically known as Oocarpa Pine, and more commonly referred to as Pitch Pine is a  type of wood that is harvested from the center of the tree that is of a light yellow color, medium texture and embodies a straight grain consistency. It is derived from the Pinaceae tree family and is scientifically known as Pinus Oocarpa. The Janka Hardness Scale rates it at 5.000.

USDA Certified

The USDA wood packaging material regulations requires for most WPM to be either heat treated or fumigated with methyl bromide and marked with an approved international mark certifying that treatment. All regulations apply to all companies importing wood to the United States.
